In dotnetnuke you can set the skin and/or container as a default for your whole website or you can override the default by page or by module.
The priority for the skin and/or container used on your website is below with one being the highest:
- Module
- Page
- Site
Setting the Container by Module
At a module level only the container can be set. To set the container for a module please follow the instructions below:
- Log in with a user that enables you to edit the module
- Using the selection arrow for the Module, Select Settings
- Scroll down and open Page Settings
- Under Module container select the new container you wish to apply to the module. If you would like to use the page or site default settings then select "Not Specified".
- Select Update
Setting the Skin and Container by Page
The skin and/or container can be set at the page level. This will override the site settings for the skin and container. If set it also becomes the default setting for any containers on the page where the Module setting is set to "Not Specified".
To set the skin and/or container for a page follow the instructions below:
- Log in with a user that enables you to edit the module
- Go to Admin -> Pages
- Select the page you wish to set the skin and/or container
- Select the Edit page button
- Scroll down and open Advanced Settings
- If you want to set the skin, go to the Page Skin field and select the preferred skin. If you want this to default to the site skin then select "Not Specified".
- If you want to set the container , go to the Page Container field and select the preferred container. If you want this to default to the site container then select "Not Specified".
- Select Update
Setting the Skin and Container for the Site
The skin and/or container can be set at the web site level and will apply to all pages and modules that have "Not Specified" set in the settings.
- Log in with a user that enables you to edit the module
- Go to Admin -> Site Settings
- Scroll down and open Appearance
- If you want to set the skin, go to the Portal Skin field and select the preferred skin. If you want this to default to the host skin settings then select "Not Specified".
- If you want to set the container , go to the Portal Container field and select the preferred container. If you want this to default to the host container settings then select "Not Specified".
- Select Update
It is recommended that you set the Site Settings Skin and Container for the Portal.
If you are unfamiliar with skins and container it is not advised to change the Admin Skin or Admin Container. If your skin or container do not support Admin functions you may have difficulty configuring your site.
