Procedures for transferring a DotNetNuke site to Creative Answers hosting service
| If you have an a DotNetNuke website on another host or your local PC and you wish to transfer it to be hosted on our servers, please follow these procedures:
- Register fro a hosting account with Creative Answers and configure your domain
- If your site is in production on another host, activate the Instant Alias so you have an alternate domain to use while you are loading and testing
- Upload all DNN files to /wwwroot directory using FTP, you must make sure that no errors occur during the file transfer. O
- Make a full MSSQL backup (.bak) or request your existing host to make a full MSSQL backup (.bak) of your MSSQL database. Upload your MSSQL database backup (.bak) to top level folder using FTP client.
- Open a support ticket and request a database restore. Make sure you specify the file name of the MSSQL backup file.
Our support staff will restore your database and update your site's web.config connection strings in order to get your site running on our servers. In some cases we might have to edit your database in order to modify invalid portal aliases, which may delay this process. In any case, it is our goal to make any host transitions as easy as possible.
