DNN Redirects Back To The Pre-Propagation Domain

If you used a pre-propagation domain to set up DNN and later configured your domain name to resolve to our servers, you may discover that DNN keeps redirecting back to the pre-propagation domain. This is because your real domain name is not part of the portal alias and therefore DNN does not know how to deal with it.  Please follow the steps below to correct:

  1. Login to DNN as "Host" user or "Admin" user.
  2. Go to Admin and select Site Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of "site settings" page until you see a container labeled "Portal Aliases".
  4. Add new portal alias matching your domain name. Typically you will want to have two portal aliases like this http://www.your_domain.com/ & yourdomain.com.
  5. Access your site using the correct domain name.
  6. Follow steps 1 to 3 and then delete the pre-propagation support domain name if you no longer need it.
