An alert can be set to provide notification if the schedueld backup fails.  To set an alter please following the instructions below:

1. On teh main screen goto Tool bar-> Preferences
2. Click the General tab
3. Under Advanced scheduling options, select the 'Alert me if the scheduled backup fails' option to receive a desktop alert
4. Set the number of days before notification.  By default, it is set to seven days.
